Christmas Gifts with Bird Motifs – Gentle Little Treasures for Nature Lovers
December is just around the corner. You don’t want to go crazy in the pre-Christmas rush, but you still haven’t picked gifts for your bird-loving friends – or even a proper ornithologist? Sit back and relax, you’ve come to the right place. As a passionate birdwatcher myself, I’m sharing my 5 favorite ideas for charming little bird-themed gifts.
The bird illustrations below are some of the most beautiful I’ve ever discovered. Their charm is sure to melt hearts – and sometimes even please taste buds.
1. Tin of Butter Cookies with a Winter Robin (M&S)

The UK is a land of traditions. Brits adore their classic “tea at five,” best paired with tasty biscuits. Shortbread has been baked in Scotland for centuries, and the European robin has been tied to Christmas in Britain since the Victorian era.
Marks & Spencer wrapped all these traditions in a festive tin filled with buttery shortbread. The recipient gets a treat for their taste buds and a delightful keepsake for display – or a practical tin for little treasures. I’ve been unable to resist the adorable robin tin for three years in a row, fascinated by the tiny seasonal changes in each edition – different bird illustrations, fonts, or embossing.
2. Coffee with Illustrated Tits on Rowan Berries (Birdsong Coffee)

I admit – when buying this coffee, I didn’t even check the roast or price. I was completely captivated by the realistic illustrations of my favorite tit birds – blue tit, coal tit, and crested tit – set against a wintry scene of frosty rowan berries. The coffee? I can’t convey its flavor here, but those birds… come on, I couldn’t leave them on the shelf!
The unique bird illustrations are the work of Czech illustrator and zoologist Jan Hošek, who also draws for the Ptačí svět magazine. His work is precise and often sketched directly in nature, capturing crucial details for identification. Gift a coffee with tit birds, or perhaps a hummingbird, from this charming roastery.
3. Bird Atlas with the Bluethroat – Birds of Europe (Svensson, 3rd Edition)

Still haven’t gifted your birdwatcher a copy of Svensson’s atlas? The third edition of Birds of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East is compact enough for a backpack yet the most comprehensive guide for European birds. It covers nearly 1,000 species, with over 3,500 illustrations showing both sexes, juveniles, and seasonal plumage.
Detailed species descriptions include identification marks, calls, behavior, and habitats. Color maps show nesting and migration routes. Illustrated by renowned artists Mullarney and Zetterström, this book ensures no birdwatcher is left guessing. And that gorgeous bluethroat? Absolutely unforgettable.
4. Porcelain Tea Mug with Birds – Robin and Blue Tits (Bohemia Porcelán)

Do you drink tea with someone special? I do. At home, we never drink tea from anything smaller than Bohemia Porcelán’s large “Mirek” mugs. Why? Practicality – they hold a proper bucket of tea 😄 – and my obsession with birds, which my family tolerates happily. These nearly half-liter mugs are made from Czech porcelain. I can never decide whether to reach for a fluffy robin or mischievous blue tits in the greenery.
And the bird motifs don’t stop there. Where else but Bohemia Porcelán can you find a mug with the tiny goldcrest perched on a yew branch? ❤ Which bird is your birdwatcher person’s favorite? Would they love a mug with a chaffinch, wren, or bullfinch? Or are they all about the sparrow? For this Czech porcelain maker, no problem at all.
5. Christmas Cards with Bird Motifs – Great Tit and Linzer Cookies (Markéta Stříteská)

Found the perfect gift for a nature lover? Bought it too? Great – now just wrap it and add a charming card or cute name tag. I love supporting small Czech companies, and that’s how I discovered these beautiful bird-themed Christmas cards and labels.
Through a cute great tit nibbling a Linzer cookie, I found the work of Central Bohemian illustrator Markéta Stříteská. Equally delightful are her blackbird on an apple, goldfinch with rose hips, or my favorite, a robin carrying a sprig of mistletoe. These motifs can adorn your cards, postcards, gift tags, or even holiday ornaments.
Bonus Tip – Bird Feeders and More Inspiration
A bird feeder is always a hit with bird lovers. Watching birds in nature relies on luck – but balcony, patio, or garden birdwatching depends on the quality of the feeder and tasty treats. Check my review of a wooden house-style feeder for tips on what to look for. Already have a feeder? (Hold my suet cakes…) An enthusiastic birder will always find a way to enjoy another one.
